Greenfield Fire Department Raising Money To Repair Hall

Greenfield Fire Department's hall was damaged during last week's storm.

Moyal Conrad, chief of the department, says after losing shingles on the roof, water leaked into the building.

"Rain made its way through the hall, all the square tiles inside the hall all got wet, some of them fell, insulation's all wet, leaked on our floor, lifted all our tiles, we had a broken window."

Insurance will only pay for some of the repairs, but Conrad wants to be sure they don't have this problem again.

He's hoping to raise enough money to put on a metal roof.

Costs to replace it could run up to $40,000.

The department is organization an online auction and are hoping for donations of new items or gift certificates from the community.

Conrad says they're not looking for used or yard sale type items.

So far he says they've seen support from the surrounding community.

"We're getting great support, there is a local business here that's loooking to help us out too," says Conrad. "It's looking good at the moment, it wasn't looking so good last week."
