The Nova Scotia Health Authority wants to hear from people in the Yarmouth area about what it would mean to have increased cancer care services.
Specifically, The Nova Scotia Cancer Care Program wants to know what patients, care-givers and others think about having a linear accelerator for radiation treatment at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
The Cancer Care Program will host two, one-day focus groups next week.
Leslie Hall, Coordinator. Engagement Diversity and Vulnerable Populations, says it's important to hear from people as a review of cancer care in the area continues.
"So that we can hear a little bit about barriers, any of the difficulties or what they're thoughts are. What it would mean to them to have an increase in cancer services in their local area. We're there to listen to their experiences in their cancer journey."
The focus groups take place February 20 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital in the Bluenose Room.
There are two sessions, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
To register for the focus groups call 1-866-599-2267 and leave a message.
Hall says she will personally return all calls.
