A signal of pride, culture or nationality is being replaced in Caledonia.
Grade nine students in the citizenship class at North Queens Community School will restore the flag pole at the local cenotaph.
The pole's condition had been declining and recently broke during a wind storm.
Since there is no longer a local legion in the community to fix the issue, students are taking action by trying to raise $2,500 to purchase a new pole.
The group is asking for financial or material donations or assistance with installation.
Students are hoping to have the new pole ready by June 6 for a flag-raising ceremony to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
