A local group is inviting people to take a walk through the region’s past.
As part of the Canada 150 celebrations, the LaHave River Trail Association has compiled photographs from the past century and a half detailing life around the LaHave.
Member, Tom Rogers says they put out the call for pictures on their Facebook page and the response has been amazing.
“I kind of felt at one point like a kid in a candy shop because I had so many great images to draw upon to try to build this eight week journey through life on the LaHave River.”
The collection contains everything from old family photos to recent contributions from professional photographers.
Rogers says as of now, the images can be viewed from their Facebook page but a physical copy is in the works.
He says the community is really behind the idea.
“The library has been extremely supportive. They’re going to take our photos and the comments we’ve received to date, put them in a binder and it’ll be available at the library.”
Rogers says it’s important to leave a record for future generations of how people in the area live, work and play.
