A Ugandan children's choir will be performing in Bridgewater this week.
The Watato group began in 1984 in the midst of armed conflicts and an AIDS epidemic in Uganda.
Initially, the organization worked to bring together widows and orphans but their work now extends to providing housing, healthcare, employment and education.
The Childrens Choir supports that work by traveling the world raising money and awareness
Trina Mitchell says seeing the choir for the first time 15 years ago had a real impact on her family.
"We've sponsored two children since that time 15 years ago. So we have a very close relationship with Watoto and having gone (to Uganda) last year, I actually went again, previous to that to serve there for a few weeks. It's just part of our family make up."
Mitchell says the children's joy is contagious.
"That's just the joy they have. They're so thankful for the little they have. We could learn there too."
The Watoto Choir will be performing at the Bridgewater Baptist Church Thursday May 23 at 6:30.
Admission is by donation.
