A municipal councillor will be recognized this month for his 50 years of service to the District of Lunenburg.
Lee Nauss was first elected in 1967 and has been acclaimed or re-elected in every election since.
Over the 50 years, Nauss spent 29 years as councillor and another 21 as either warden or deputy mayor.
Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says it is an impressive accomplishment.
"It's a remarkable feat when you think about it and the only one in Nova Scotia to have served for 50 years on a municipal council."
Nauss was part of significant achievements including helping the municipality become a leader in solid waste by source separating garbage and recyclables
A celebration will be held in Nauss' honour October 21 at 2 p.m at the Italy Cross, Middlewood and District Fire Department.
