White Out Conditions Reported Across Tri-Counties And South Shore

There's no surprise that these strong northwest winds in the Tri-Counties and South Shore are making driving challenging in some areas.

While there's no significant snowfall, Don Houston with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation in Yarmouth says there are whiteouts in some places and the cold isn't helping.

"We're unable to use salt right now. We're pretty much plowing back hills, intersections and such. We're putting down sand for that. All the operators have been reporting white out conditions."

Houston says from Clyde River to Halifax it's a little better with less snow.

Clyde River back to Yarmouth is snow covered.

He says Baccaro Point and Cape Sable Island are experiencing severe winds.

In Clare there are whiteout conditions.
