Bay Ferries To Suspend 'Fundy Rose' Service Later This Month For Major Maintenance Project

The Digby to Saint John ferry will be out of service later this month for maintenance.

The 'Fundy Rose' will undergo work described by Bay Ferries's CEO as "capital projects".

Mark MacDonald says the work is not part of regularly scheduled maintenance.

"There are a series of projects which are more in the nature of major projects. One is work on the engine control system of the vessel. They're projects which essentially require the ship to be out of service, so we have scheduled a maintenance period in consultation with Transport Canada."

MacDonald says the maintenance period will also align with some work that will be undertaken to the dock facility in Saint John that can't be done while the ship is in service.

"What we have tried to do is identify a period which would be least disruptive to customers. It is from late January time frame and likely the date is sometime in the range of March 21 to 24 time frame.
