Candidate Campaign Sign Mischief?

A provincial election is well underway with candidate signs popping up everywhere.

The RCMP is advising people that it's against the law to deface or destroy campaign signs.

Constable Rob James says at least one candidate in Queens-Shelburne has experienced their signs being vandalized.

He says he's been told of similar incidents occurring in Lunenburg County.

James says complaints like these generally happen during an election but it doesn't mean it's alright.

"In the event that you do disagree with a particular candidate, it still doesn't give you the right to deface, or destroy, or steal their campaign signs."

James says people could face a fine or even jail time for mischief if they're caught destroying or damaging campaign signs.
