Masland Brings PC Flag to Queens-Shelburne

In the Queens-Shelburne riding, a new MLA was elected as former NDP MLA Sterling Belliveau did not reoffer.

The riding went from orange to blue.

Kim Masland, the Progressive Conservative candidate won the seat with 3,244 votes, beating her nearest rival Liberal Vernon Oickle by 941 votes.

Masland says she fought a hard campaign.

"I knocked on over 5,000 doors in this riding and on every doorstep health care overall was the major, major focus of this entire campaign and it is what is on the minds of residents in Queens-Shelburne. They're worried."

The NDP's John Davis received 1,581 votes and Green Party candidate Kathaleen Milan had 275.  

Voter turnout in Queens-Shelburne was just over 53 per cent.
